The Next Step in Your Journey of Faith...
RCIA or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
, as it is formally known, is a pilgrimage journey through the Catechism and teachings of the Catholic Church. It is also an opportunity for any Catholic who seeks a deeper understanding to grow in their faith. Through reading, videos and discussion, each journey participant continually questions, contemplates and prays about their faith journey.
This journey of faith is designed to answer questions, receive truth, and have the freedom to make a decision. For those who are not Catholic, they have the freedom to decide whether they want to join the Catholic Church. If they desire to continue, the unbaptized will receive the Sacrament of Baptism, and the other individuals who have been baptized in another Christian church will make a profession of faith in the Catholic Church and all will be confirmed at the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil.
Your Journey can start by reaching out and having a conversation with Deacon Chuck Adams to answer any questions or objections you may have about RCIA or the Catholic Church.
The sessions begin in September on the Monday following Labor Day in the Suneg Center (lower level of the church). We meet every Monday evening with breaks over the Christmas holiday. We end shortly after Easter.
While the program is in progress, the parish community supports the journey and the participants by providing:
1. Prayer support for the conversion of heart and the protection of St. Michael the Archangel.
2. Presence as Team Members and Sponsors accompany new candidates each week answering questions and providing support as they grow closer to Jesus and learn about our Faith.
3. A meal each class night, as we found a shared meal creates community, removes another potential barrier for attending class and fulfills a corporal work of mercy to feed the hungry. If you'd like to help with a meal, please sign up with Deacon Chuck!
