Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
REGISTRATION FOR 2018-2019 IS FULL
Classes began September 7th.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori based method of religious formation for children ages 3-6 that awakens religious wonder and contemplation in the child, while giving him or her a strong foundation in the Bible and Catholic liturgical practices. CGS believes that a young child has the potential to pray, contemplate the mysteries of faith, and grow in relationship with the Good Shepherd. Children gather in an "atrium," a room specially prepared for their developmental levels, which contains simple yet beautiful materials that they use. This program is highly recommended and is only offered in a few parishes in Omaha!
- Fridays 10:00-11:15am in the Suneg Center, September through May
- A child must be 3 years of age by July 31 to register.
- Please contact the RE Office for more information at 402-558-9119 or http://www.cgsusa.org/.
For the 2018-19 year we will grow in our faith through using materials such as the articles of the Mass: the tabernacle, ciborium, the liturgical calendar, and the vestments of the priests. Furthermore, your child will meditate on the Infancy Narratives of the Annunciation and Visitation as well as the parables, the gestures of the epiclesis and offering (doxology), as well as learn about the gestures and oils used at baptism.
