Do you have questions about the teachings of the Catholic faith? Our team at St. Margaret Mary parish would love to help you out! We welcome the opportunity to walk with you on your journey of faith, answering any questions you have about the teachings of the Catholic Church, and helping you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. In having these conversations with you, we have no expectations that you would join the Catholic Church, but we are happy if you feel ready to do so!
Our OCIA program runs year-round with formation classes officially beginning in August/September on Monday nights from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
St. Margaret Mary parish, like all Catholic parishes, has a formal program for those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. The program is called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, or "OCIA" for short. At St. Margaret Mary parish, the formal program takes place during the academic year, but we are always happy to help you out at any time of the year. Reach out as soon as you're interested!
In the formal program of OCIA, as well as in meetings with those who cannot join the formal program, you will learn about the teachings of the Catholic Church. Our discussion will be based on the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (provided for you) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). The CCC is the official book that summarizes the beliefs of Catholics around the world -- beliefs which come from Sacred Scripture (the Bible) and Sacred Tradition (the word of God handed down from generation to generation by word of mouth).
While the program is in progress, the St. Margaret Mary parish community supports the journey and the participants by providing:
- Prayer support for an ever deeper conversion of heart to know and love Jesus Christ and His Church.
- A sense of welcome, as Team Members and Sponsors accompany new candidates each week, answering questions and providing support as they grow closer to Jesus and learn about the Catholic faith.
